Write For UsAbout UFR
We publish over 60 new titles each year, most of these are developed by practising teachers. Schools purchase our supplementary resource books either directly from us, or through a variety of educational booksellers who carry our titles. We have a number of licensing, distribution and rights agreements with educational publishers in other countries - such as USA, Canada, Germany, and Singapore.
Working With Us
Those who work with us are generally teachers who have an interest in developing resource materials for their own students, and have a sense that their resources might benefit other teachers. Initially we like to receive a resource proposal, a contents page and a few sample pages from a potential author. It is important for potential authors to have a clear idea about what is already available in the area they would like to write in. Proposals are reviewed by our editorial team, who will produce feedback direct to the author.
If feedback is good and we feel positive about the selling potential of the resource, we sign a publishing agreement with the writer.
Our writers receive a royalty per book sold.
What Are Our Resources Like?
There are no ‘hard and fast’ rules about what our resource books are like. Whichever style we adopt for resource development – from teacher professional development handbooks, to easy-to-use workbooks, to units of work which combine teacher information and student activities – our priorities are for relevant and up-to-date educational content, supported by a high quality production. Teachers seem to favour the ‘lesson plan approach’ of our resource books – with guidelines for teachers on one page, and specific activities or worksheets for students that support the guidelines on a facing page. Most of our resource books are approximately 48 to 56 pages long.
The reason our books are so popular is because they are accessible, relevant and packed with information and ideas. You can see the range of resource ‘types’ on our website.
On this page is a PDF file that you can download: Developing a Resource Proposal You might find it helpful in guiding your submission.
